Thank you for visiting the Vicki Soto Memorial Fund, Inc. website. Vicki lost her life tragically in the Sandy Hook shooting in Newtown, CT on December 14, 2012 protecting her first grade students. Many of those students are alive today because of her heroic efforts to hide and protect those children whom she dearly loved.
The mission of The Vicki Soto Memorial Fund, Inc. is to promote a love of education by honoring Vicki’s passion for life and commitment to teaching. In carrying on with her legacy, all donations and money raised goes to the fund and is used to support many important and vital educational initiatives. To date, the fund has awarded tens of thousands of dollars in annual scholarships to graduating high school seniors pursuing college degrees in education, hosted community book drives, established free library locations around the Stratford, CT community and has donated hundreds of children’s books to local teachers, classrooms, libraries and schools. In addition, proceeds from the fund have helped to launch “Miss Soto’s Literacy Legacy” which provides over 200 classrooms in the Stratford, CT school system the opportunity to collectively read books that promote and encourage kindness. The fund has also partnered with many different non-profit organizations to build playgrounds, award other educational scholarships and support future education.
