To all of the service men and women, including our family members, thank you for your service and sacrifice today and always.
We are pleased to announce our Vicki Soto Memorial Scholarship national recipient for 2016 is Marley Roberts. Marley graduated from Albuquerque High School in New Mexico this past week. Marley demonstrates the exceptional characteristics we look for in our applicants.
When we started this process we didn’t know how this would work, as when we award the scholarship locally, we do in person interviews. We had over 40 national applications this first year from all over the country and we are confident in our choice of Marley. After reading her essay and asking her additional lengthy follow up questions, we learned that she is a serious young lady committed to working hard to be successful, her silly side, dancing and singing in the grocery store with her family, her love of four legged friends and the passion she has to mold the minds of the children she will teach.
We feel we have chosen a perfect recipient of the Vicki Soto Memorial Scholarship. Marley embodies all of what Vicki stood for and aimed to achieve in life. Congratulations to Marley!
Thank you to everyone who took the time to apply for the national scholarship, as there were so many deserving applicants. We wish the best to each and every one of them in their future.
The Vicki Soto Memorial Scholarship local Stratford winners will be announced in the coming weeks.
