On Wednesday, February 22, 2017 at 5:30pm join us at La Famiglia restaurant in Milford, CT! Our very own Jim Wiltsie will be the guest bartender for the evening with a portion of the proceeds benefiting the Vicki Soto Memorial Fund, Inc. Come on down and have dinner/drinks with us!
Today the Vicki Soto Memorial Fund, Inc. will deliver 250 copies of the book “Somebody Loves You Mr. Hatch” across our community as part of Miss Soto’s Literary Legacy Project. We had the honor of working with the books’ illustrator to make this all possible. If you have children in the Stratford School District, we encourage you to ask them about the book, Miss Soto Literacy Legacy, and how their class is getting involved!
Scholarship applications are now available! There are two local high school scholarships, a Connecticut state scholarship and a nationwide scholarship!
All recipients of the scholarship must be pursuing a college degree at an accredited university in the field of education and demonstrate excellence in academics, extracurricular activities and leadership skills. The recipients must also demonstrate the spirit to Live, Laugh, and Love both life and education the way Vicki did.
To apply, please go to the scholarship page: http://vickisotomemorial.com/scholarships/

Each year, the Vicki Soto Memorial Fund, Inc., picks several local donorschoose.org teachers to support. One of the classrooms we helped was Ms. Meyer’s 4th grade classroom. We just received these wonderful thank you notes from her class. It’s so good to know our donation had such a positive impact!
From The Soto Family
“This week is always hard for us and today is excruciating. In the four years that Vicki has been gone, we have worked tirelessly to keep her legacy alive. We hope that she would be proud of everything we have done for her so far. We wouldn’t have been able to do that without all of you. When you show up to run in the 5K or you shop on Amazon Smile, or you purchase a sweatshirt from our Etsy store, you help us keep Vicki’s legacy going. We provide scholarships and books, we fill in gaps in local literacy programs, and we invest in our community in Stratford. A community that also rallied behind us four years ago.
So today we simply say THANK YOU to all of you for everything you have done to keep Vicki’s memory alive.
We are going to be silent for the rest of the day. Please use today to spread kindness and love. Also please visit mysandyhookfamily.org which is a website approved by the 12/14 families to show you what each family is doing to honor their loved ones.”
